Peter Dinsdale

Peter Dinsdale is the president and chief executive officer of YMCA Canada and serves on Carleton University’s Board of Governors. In March 2018, Dinsdale was appointed to the Order of Ontario in recognition of his work advocating for Indigenous issues and communities.
“I am honoured to serve as a governor and have a small role in Carleton’s efforts on responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action,” says Dinsdale.
Dinsdale spent years as Urban Aboriginal Homelessness manager at the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres. He has served as executive director of the National Association of Friendship Centres and has held numerous leadership positions with the Assembly of First Nations.
Dinsdale has been instrumental in advancing the Friendship Centre movement in Canada. He has authored and co-authored policy papers, including Urban Aboriginal Communities in Canada: Complexities, Challenges, Opportunities.
