Tony Zhu
Research Assistant
My name is Tony Zhu, and I’m currently in my first year of my Master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration with a specialization in Data Science at Carleton University. Before this, I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto (St. George), which is the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit, where I majored in Criminology & Socio-legal Studies. I was born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area, and I am Mandarin Chinese.
My prior research has focused on Special Investigations Unit Director’s Reports, specifically on Conducted Energy Weapons (Tasers) and the Ontario Use of Force policy, as well as the mental health of Arab newcomers to Ontario, exploring how they build resilience through food, nutrition, and physical activity.
Currently, my research interests include corrections and criminal justice policy, Big Data Analytics and AI usage within government programs, environmental justice, and the geopolitics and security of the Arctic.
