Sept. 4, 2019

To All Members of the Carleton Community,

While Carleton’s current Strategic Integrated Plan (called “Collaboration, Leadership and Resilience: Sustainable Communities – Global Prosperity”) continues to guide us, it is now time to engage our community in a broad consultative process towards renewing our strategic plan.

Strategic Integrated Planning (SIP) Task Force

The SIP Task Force will play an integral role in the development of the next SIP. We are happy to announce that we have brought together a strong task force that is representative of the Carleton community and eager to take on this important challenge. We thank the task force members for their commitment to Carleton, and we thank all who submitted nominations for membership. We were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response we received to our call for nominations over the past month. The task force members are listed on the SIP website.

Speaker Series

We are organizing a speaker series, which will prompt us all to think strategically about significant topics related to higher education. In addition to the event on Sept. 5 (Carleton’s Strategy: The Next Chapter), we are pleased to invite you to a panel discussion on internationalization on Sept. 9. The panelists are:

  • Paul Davidson, president, Universities Canada
  • Karen Dalkie, vice-president, Development and Partnerships, Canadian Bureau for International Education
  • Greg Moran, executive director, Academics Without Borders

Video recordings of these events will be made available for those who are not able to attend. Additional events in the Speaker Series will be posted on the SIP website as the details are confirmed.

Consultations

We invite everyone from the Carleton community to participate in an upcoming consultation about Carleton’s next Strategic Integrated Plan. Consultations are being organized with various stakeholder groups across campus. We have also scheduled consultations that are open to the entire university community. Please register online to confirm your attendance. Additional consultation opportunities will be added to the SIP website as the details are confirmed.

We look forward to a productive and engaging conversation about Carleton’s strengths and vision for the future.

Sincerely,

Lorraine Dyke
