New article alert! Our Lab Director Kenta Asakura, Lab Associate Karen Sewell, and Lab Affiliate Toula Kourgiantakis recently published a tribute article for the late Professor Marion Bogo, who not only was a Lab Affiliate but was also a leader and innovator in simulation-based education.

The article, Marion Bogo, a Visionary, Innovator, and Leader: Reflecting on Her Groundbreaking Work on Simulation-Based Social Work Education, highlights Professor Bogo’s lifetime commitment to enhancing social work education through research, mentorship, and innovation.

An excerpt from the article summarizes Professor Bogo’s legacy:

While her research is remarkable in breadth, scope, and influence, from our perspective one of the most important contributions Professor Bogo made to social work education resides in the relationships she developed and cared for profoundly. We all felt deep loss with the news of her passing but also a connection to the community of educators and social workers developed and enriched by their relationships with her. Through practicing what she valued and taught, Professor Bogo generously invested in students and new faculty members who internalized the caring conditions with which they now research, mentor, practice, and teach.” (Asakura et al., 2022, p. 6)
