Laura Horak and Andrew Robbins from the Transgender Media Lab have been invited to curate a short film program for the Aesthetica Short Film Festival based in York, UK. This year the festival will run from November 3-8 on a virtual platform, with content available on demand until November 30.

Their program is titled “TransFormation, TransAction.” The program features an exciting and eclectic mix of films made by trans, Two-Spirit, nonbinary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming artists based in the US and Canada, with an emphasis on Black, Indigenous, and people-of-color creators. Spanning documentary, animation, music video, experimental, and narrative forms, these filmmakers offer aesthetically innovative meditations on oppression, resistance, and imagination.
