THE CORS DIPLOMA
In May 1995, the National Council of Canadian Operational Research Society officially launched the CORS Diploma. This Diploma will be awarded to students who have completed a program of studies with significant OR content in any participating Canadian university. The purpose of the Diploma is to encourage students to include significant exposure to OR in their education program and to recognize their achievement in successfully completing such a program. The main target of this program is those who wish to practice OR. CORS wants to encourage experts in other fields to use OR together with their own expertise to solve problems in their fields.
The Program of Study
The program of study must provide coverage of four broad areas: Operational Research Techniques, Probability and Statistics, Computers and Systems and Functional Applications of Operations Research. Students can apply for CORS diploma if they have completed at least seven 0.5 credit courses (with a B- average) in the above four areas. At least two courses are required in each of areas 1 and 2. Areas 3 and 4 do not require any dedicated course as long as it is covered in other courses in the program. Details of the topics covered in each area are given at CORS website:

Procedure for Applying for Diploma:
- Submit your transcript with at least seven courses highlighted (covering the topics in the requirement). Calculate the average grade in those courses and write on the transcript itself. Write your email address, mailing address, and phone number on the transcript.
- For Area 1 in the CORS Diploma document, where 6 topics are required, write the topics and the corresponding courses in which those topics were covered (on a separate paper).
- Leave above information in my (Uma Kumar) mailbox (8th floor Dunton Tower) or give it to the secretary to leave in my mailbox.
- I will be sending out the list of approved candidates to the National three times in a year in the second week of April, August or December. At the same time, I will inform you also so that you can become a CORS student member. CORS national requirement is that the candidate must be a CORS student member to receive Diploma
- National will mail the Diplomas directly to the recipients.
