Bella is an M.A.Sc. candidate supervised by Dr. Cole Van De Ven and is working on assessing the reliability of current shallow surface monitoring methods used to detect CO2 leaks from deep geological carbon storage reservoirs. This research seeks to quantify the impacts of previously unconsidered unsaturated and saturated zone processes (i.e. multicomponent mass transfer and multiphase flow) on shallow soil gas signals.
