Welcome to Carleton University!
University is a very exciting time as you begin your academic career and strive to achieve personal and academic goals. As the Vice-President (Students and Enrolment) and University Registrar, I am committed to facilitating your transition to university studies and to ensuring your experience at Carleton is rewarding.
Our mission is to promote student development and learning, enhance the student experience, and contribute to the creation of an environment for success at Carleton and after graduation. To this end, we have designed this guide to provide you with answers to your academic questions.
I encourage you to get involved and to take advantage of the services offered to you. The Registrar’s Office (RO) is an office you will likely visit several times during your academic career. This office provides you with your academic audit, a document outlining what you’ve achieved and the courses you still need to take. If you decide to change your major or add a minor, specialization or concentration, you will make the request via Carleton Central, but it will be reviewed by the RO. When you are ready to graduate, you must apply through the RO. Becoming familiar with their services will ensure you stay on track and meet your graduation requirements.
If at any time you would like some advice about your academic career, our Academic Advising Centre is here to support you. Academic advisors can help you understand your academic audit, provide you with advice when choosing or changing a degree program, and assist you with identifying strategies to achieve academic success.
We offer a number of programs and services to help you while at Carleton. These services are intended to support you during your complete university experience—everything from supporting your academics to ensuring you participate in meaningful activities outside of the classroom. We’re committed to helping keep you on track through the year by providing you with month by-month information and reminders to help you succeed.
You can also get connected with Carleton by downloading our mobile app for current students. Currently offered for iPhones and Android phones, this app allows you to view your class and exam schedules, access grades and get around campus using the campus map. Likewise, connect with us on Instagram and Twitter for information on events and for contests geared toward getting you interacting with other students.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Blanchard
