The Academic Advising Centre (AAC)

The Academic Advising Centre’s (AAC) primary focus is to support undergraduate and special students in achieving academic success. The AAC offers advising sessions for students who are experiencing academic difficulty, need assistance understanding their academic audit, want to ensure they are fulfilling their degree program’s academic requirements.

An Academic Advisor can help you with:

  • Questions about Academic Continuation Evaluation (ACE)
  • Understanding academic rules and regulations
  • Making degree or program element changes such as major, minor or concentration
  • Strategies to improve or maximize your CGPA
  • Taking a reduced course load or a leave of absence from your program
  • Exploring academic difficulties you may be experiencing
  • Getting connected to other student support services on campus

The best way to connect with our office is by using our Academic Advising Request Form. You can also email us at academicadvising@carleton.ca from your Carleton CMAIL account. Don’t forget to include your student number. We are also offering advising on a drop-in basis, Monday to Friday between 8:30am to 4:30pm. We recommend coming in before 3pm to allow enough time to meet with an advisor.

If your questions are related to navigating Carleton Central, how to add/drop a course, building a timetable or registration in general, contact the Registrar’s Office for assistance.

Please note: If you are looking to meet with an advisor for one of the following degree programs, please contact your program advisor directly: Architecture, Commerce, Engineering, Global and International Studies, Industrial Design, Information Technology, International Business, Journalism, Media Production and Design, Music, Public Affairs and Policy Management, Social Work.
