Her background as an Afghan judge and prosecutor, along with her commitment to advancing the rights of women, make her a valuable asset to Canada’s legal and academic communities.
Freshta’s qualifications and experiences are diverse and impressive. Her academic pursuits include a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Law from Kabul University and a Master’s degree in criminal law and criminology from Azad Islamic University of Iran in Kabul. Her master’s thesis on “victims’ rights in sentencing law of Afghanistan” showcases her expertise in the Afghan legal system.
Her practical experience as a judge at the trial level of the Family Court of Kabul highlights her involvement in complex cases related to family law, such as divorce, separation, custody, and childcare. Her role as a prosecutor focused on protecting children demonstrates her commitment to safeguarding vulnerable members of society.
