Shogofa Alizada
Student Researcher (UBC)
Shogofa is a Student Researcher for the Intergenerational Futures and Connections (ICF) arm of the PPP project, running from the Office of Regional and International Community Engagement at UBC. Through her involvement, she has contributed to the generation and dissemination of knowledge on the migration, settlement, and education experiences of unaccompanied refugee minors to explore how these experiences may impact and influence URMs’ higher education experiences in the Canadian context.
Beyond her involvement with the ICF project, she is currently facilitating and coordinating community-based workshops and provides peer mentorship to underserved BIPOC youth, including newcomers’ youth, on issues related to food security and equitable access to higher education in Vancouver. Pursuing a B.A. in Geography with a minor in GIS and Geographical Computations at UBC, she hopes to apply her academic and practical knowledge to address complex social issues impacting marginalized communities on local and global scales.
Outside of work and academics, Shogofa enjoys exploring the city and the nature surrounding it, watching true-crime documentaries, and writing poetry.
