David Chernushenko has been a City Councillor in Ottawa since 2010. He chairs the Environment and Climate Protection Committee.
Born in 1963 in Calgary, he has called Ottawa home for most of his life. David holds a B.A. in Political Studies from Queen’s University and a Master’s in International Relations from Cambridge University. He is a green building professional accredited by the LEED certification program.
Prior to being elected, David worked as a consultant, educator, writer and filmmaker with a passion for sustainable and healthy living. His most recent films focus on sound urban planning, renewable energy, and urban cycling as part of building vibrant, happier cities.
