Program Description
This is a highly interactive, skills-based online course using simulations and exercises to develop practical skills in the following: negotiation strategies and tactics; organising for trade negotiations; stakeholder engagement; preparing for the first set of negotiations; and drafting a trade agreement chapter.
The course is based on the experiences of former trade negotiators and diplomats from Canada, the United States, Europe, the UK, Russia, China and several Latin American, Caribbean and African countries. More than 600 trade negotiation officials have taken this course in the last five years.
Participant Profile
This course is designed for junior and mid-level trade officials who are either involved in trade negotiations or are preparing to be involved in trade negotiations. The course is limited to 12 participants to provide direct advice, “live” coaching, and immediate feedback to each participant.
Expert advice from those who have been there
This course is delivered by CTPL’s principal trade negotiation experts – Rosemina Nathoo and Phil Rourke – with direct experience teaching online in Canada, the UK, and the developing world and working with trade negotiation officials from 20+ countries. Their special guests for each session are former trade negotiators with distinguished careers at the highest levels on all of Canada’s major trade negotiation files.
Tuition Fee: $2,250 + HST
Participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement upon completion of CTPL’s Certificate Program.
