Many non-Aboriginal Canadians question why Aboriginal peoples continue to focus on the effects of the Indian Residential Schools, as the they believe that this was a transgression of the past. But there is compelling evidence that the trauma of the experiences associated with Aboriginal children being forced out of their communities to attend these schools has had devasting intergenerational impacts on people and communities.
