A couple of months ago, W. Williams & S. Ceci caused a flurry of activity in response to research they published in PNAS suggesting that if anything, the gender bias in science was in favour of women, or at least it was in simulated hirings in the lab. Although there has already been considerable critique of their research, this most recent one by J. Williams & J. Smith, The Myth that Academic Science isn’t Biased against Women is worth a read as it identifies 5 critical flaws in the original research.
