I am currently in my undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering, with a focus on Aerospace Electronics and Systems. I was introduced to the Carleton Energy and Particle Technology Laboratory through the Powdered Metal Reactor (PMR) Capstone. Throughout the Capstone I grew closer to the idea of oxidizing metals to produce energy as a potential solution to climate change and the instrumentation and control challenges it presents for a Powdered Metal Reactor design.
I was presented with the opportunity to continue working on the PMR throughout the summer semester of 2025 as an undergraduate research assistant. I hope to continue developing the PMR, specifically focusing on the GUI and developing an automated feedback control system utilizing sensors and actuators to achieve the desired reactor output.
