Prof. David Lau (PI) with Prof. Jeff Erochko (Co-PI), Prof. Murat Saatcioglu (Co-PI University of Ottawa) and seven other co-applicants were awarded a $7.7 Million combined Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and Ontario Research Fund (ORF) grant for equipment to study multi-hazard effects on infrastructure. The new facility is a joint venture between Carleton University and the University of Ottawa and will be used to study combined effects of Earthquake, Fire, Wind, Blast, and Climate Change. It includes a total of six multi-degree-of-freedom shaking tables, a new column furnace for the fire laboratory, a large axial testing machine, upgrades to the actuation and hydraulic capacity of the structures lab at Carleton, and new computer equipment for simulation and testing.
