A journalist with over twenty years of experience, Kathy Dobson has written for every major newspaper and magazine in Canada and is the author of two books. She also worked for the CBC as a news stringer and documentary producer. Kathy’s research interests include the datafication of social assistance programs, media framing of marginalized communities, and the political economy of news. Kathy is interim co-Director of the ALiGN Media Lab, created by Dr. Merlyna Lim, which includes working with marginalized communities and groups engaged with challenging dominant narratives. Kathy recruits, mentors, and supervises undergraduate and graduate students to research and write for the lab.
