Kelly works on load transfer of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) piles in different soil conditions. He has developed a numerical model using ABAQUS to simulate load transfer and settlement behaviour of hollow FRP tubes under axial and lateral loads. The developed model is verified using interface shear tests and pile load testis on model FRP piles in sand and clay. The numerical model is used to investigate the impact of FRP fiber orientation, fiber materials (carbon and glass) and pile diameter on performance of FRP piles under axial and lateral loads.
