Dr. Matthew Croombs completed his dissertation, “An Opposition in Search of Itself: Modern French Cinema and the Algerian War” in the fall of 2013. In the spring of 2015, he will begin a two year postdoctoral project with the Film Studies Department at King’s College London. His new project, “Archaeologies of Resistance: René Vautier and the Counter-Visual History of the Algerian War” investigates a body of collectively authored, anti-colonial cinema, whose production, distribution, and exhibition contexts were organized by the activist filmmaker, René Vautier.

Congratulations and best of luck in your postdoc, Matt, from all of us in ICSLAC!
