Some warm congratulations to ICSLAC Professor Dr. Carmen Robertson and students of her Cultural Mediations graduate seminar, who curated the exhibition Echoing the Land. Presented by Canadian Heritage in collaboration with Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, Echoing the Land is currently on display in Ottawa’s Clarendon and York Courtyards until March 2023. As relayed on the Canadian Heritage website, this exhibition “features diverse works by First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists created between 1977 to 2020 that address resonance through the land and reflect upon Indigenous artist connections with territory that are expressed across generations, cultures, geographies, and languages”. Student curators include Cultural Mediations doctoral candidate Krista Zawadski, whose research profiles can be found here. Dr. Carmen Robertson is Canada Research Chair in North American Art and Material Culture at Carleton University. As an ICSLAC faculty member, she is actively engaged through graduate teaching and supervision in the Cultural Mediations PhD. A video presentation of the exhibition can be viewed here.
