Stéphane Magnan
MASc Candidate
Upon completing his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical option at the University of Alberta in May 2016, Stéphane joined the Impact Dynamics Research Group. Before coming to Carleton, his research experience included assigning network redundancy to withstand dual failure modes and several rehabilitation-oriented projects for the Bionic Limbs for Improved Natural Control (BLINC) lab at the University of Alberta.
His interest and background in rehabilitation has evolved towards injury prevention technologies. The focus of Stéphane’s research is the development of a new strain measurement approach using x-ray at high framing rates with applications to injury biomechanics and in situ transient loading investigations. In the summer of 2016, Stéphane and his girlfriend biked 6100 km across Canada, from Victoria, BC to Halifax, NS, raising awareness and $18,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
