We are pleased to announce the establishment of a new $10,000 annual fund to support Indigenous-focused programming at Carleton, which is an outcome of collective bargaining with CUASA. Small amounts of funding will be available until the $10,000 is used. This amount will be renewed each fiscal year. Each application is eligible to a maximum of $1,000 for the purchase of items, guest speakers, and other culturally specific needs related to the performance of a faculty member or librarian’s professional, research and/or teaching duties.

This fund supports call to action #16 in the Kinàmàgawin report, which calls for appropriate funding in each Faculty for the express purpose of compensating Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and community members who are providing expertise.

All faculty (including teaching stream) and librarians are eligible to apply. This fund will be managed by the Office of the Associate Vice-President, Indigenous Teaching, Learning and Research. The fund and its criteria will be reviewed annually to ensure alignment with the University’s Kinàmàgawin report.

Applications are open until December 8, 2025 for Winter 2026 funding. The next round of funding will be available in August 2026.

Terms and Conditions

  • All applications will require a justification to show how funding would be used
  • Employees who have submitted application forms will be contacted if their proposal has been approved for funding
  • If funding is provided, all receipts/invoices must be submitted to the Office of the Associate Vice-President, Indigenous Teaching, Learning and Research
