Potluck in the LRR
January 31, 2019 at 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Location: | 337 St. Patrick's Building |
Cost: | Free |
*** Join us in the Language Resource Room for a Potluck ***
Carleton language learners, language TA’s, conversation partners, language instructors…and anyone else who uses the LRR on a regular basis are welcome to attend.
The theme of the event is “cook something from the country where they speak the language that you’re learning.” For instance, did you know:
- “nachos” were invented by Ignacio “Nacho” Anaya in Piedras Negras, Mexico
- archeologists recently dug up a 4000 year old bowl of noodles in Lajia, China.
- Yorùbá people forced into slavery in the 19th century brought the dish Acarajé with them to Brazil
Of course, you don’t HAVE to bring a dish to participate. Just show up with an appetite.
But please let us know you’re planning to come (below).
Cups, plates, bowls, and cutlery are provided.
