Hi, I’m Leilah! 

I’m in my last year of the B.A. Linguistics program, and I love languages… a lot! I grew up speaking Swiss German and English with my parents, but also learned some Standard German in school in Switzerland, and later learned a bit of Mandarin Chinese through self-study and attending classes here at Carleton. In my free time I also enjoy going to the gym or swimming, reading (political philosophy, in particular), and baking.

I’m currently a TA for the GERM 2010 class. I’m hoping to use my knowledge of linguistics and my own experience learning foreign languages to help this year’s German students feel more comfortable and confident speaking German, as well as encouraging them to view language learning as a valuable, life-long pursuit.
