Fervone GoingsFervone Goings was raised, educated and has worked most of her life on Treaty 6 territory and currently works in Amiskwaciwâskahikan, also known as Edmonton. She completed her Master of Science at the University of Alberta, worked in research, and then pursued other endeavours, including starting a business, raising a family, and pivoting to the nonprofit sector in 2000.

She’s been in her current role, at the University of Alberta, since 2016 as WISEST (Women in Scholarship, Engineering, Science & Technology) Team Lead. Under her direction, WISEST strategically engages with thousands of female and gender-diverse students through programming designed to overcome barriers to underrepresented groups in
STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

Fervone leverages her experiences from STEM education, research, business development, and nonprofit administration, and her lived experience as a woman in STEM, to advocate for more inclusion in educational and workplace settings.

Fervone anticipates that the MPNL program will support her current work, expand her network and open avenues for future collaborations. She’s excited to be joining innovative thought-leaders who are making an impact. She hopes her own journey is marked with growth, inspiration and motivation to continue to transform society through philanthropy.
