Mike Goold
Inherent Rights Fellow
Had’ih everyone, my name is Mike Goold and I am both honoured and inspired to be joining the RFNG team as an Inherent Rights Fellow.
I grew up in Houston BC and I am a proud member of the Wet’suwet’en Nation. I now live in my adopted homelands of the Coast Salish where I currently reside at Cultus Lake with by beautiful wife Shelley. I’m a member of the Kwen bi’yahk House (House Beside the Fire) within the Laksilyu (Small Frog) Clan. My grandmother Gu’eh (Lucy Rose Bazil) provided oral testimony in the historic Delgamuukw-Gisday’way court case. And I am proud to support ongoing efforts within my family and House Group to rebuild our traditional governance system. We continue to build on teachings provided by Satsan and the RFNG/CFNG team during a Five Pillars of Effective Governance workshop in 2022.
Although I’m not an academic researcher, I am certified in Forestry Business Administration in addition to my Diploma in Natural Resource Management. I enjoyed more than two decades as a forestry technician, contract supervisor and log home builder. In my current role for more than 12 years now, I’ve supported Indigenous rights and title as a manager and advisor under various consultation and engagement agreements for a number of Stó:lō communities.
Again, it’s a great honour and a privilege to become part of such an accomplished team doing such critical and transformative work. “We are the answer to the prayers of our ancestors”.
