Tom Manser completed his undergraduate in mechanical engineering at Carleton in April 2018. Following graduation, Tom worked as a building mechanical designer at Stantec Consulting Ltd. In Ottawa where he designed various mechanical systems within buildings (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.) with a focus in hydronic heating and cooling system design in existing buildings.
Tom returned to Carleton to commence his MASc studies in September 2021. The focus of the research is experimentally evaluating the performance of the seasonal solar thermal energy storage system at the Urbandale Centre for Home Energy Research while implementing control modifications set to achieve an annual solar fraction over 90% of space heating and domestic hot water heating loads.
