Survey Facilitator Position
We are looking for a facilitator to execute a survey at and about fishing derbies in Eeyou Istchee (Northern Quebec) in summer/fall 2022.
As a part of FISHES (Fostering Indigenous Small-scale fisheries for Health, Economy, and food Security), a collaboration between Northern Indigenous organizations, universities, and government agencies, we are conducting surveys at fishing derbies throughout Eeyou Istchee. The survey asks participants about their experiences with and views on fishing derbies. This research will inform local entities about attitudes towards fishing derbies and how derbies contribute to the local economy and food security. The survey was endorsed by the Eeyou Istchee Research Advisory Board with representation from the Cree Nation Government, the
Cree Trappers’ Association, the Cree Nation of Mistissini, the Cree Nation of Waswanipi, the Eeyou Marine Region Wildlife Board, and the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay.
