
Fola Oluwasina
Shadowing Program Director
Dr. Fola Oluwasina is the new Program Director for Shad Canada at Red Deer Polytechnic. He is a science and nursing Instructor at the Red Deer Polytechnic, with an extensive academic background in public health. He holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, a master’s degree in public health with a specialization in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics, and a Ph.D. in Public health Epidemiology.
Dr. Oluwasina is a published researcher and a passionate educator who has been teaching and researching for the past 13 years. He is passionate about health innovations that increase access to high-quality mental health care, as well as addressing the lack of access to healthcare and psychological therapies for patients suffering from depression and anxiety. He seeks to identify the pathways associated with a variety of stress-related health disorders, including psychosis, anxiety, suicide, depression, burnout, depersonalization, emotional exhaustion, and interpersonal disengagement. He aims to identify novel therapeutic mechanisms for treating these diseases through his research.
Dr. Oluwasina brings a deep commitment to youth empowerment, interdisciplinary learning, and community health to his role as Shad Red Deer Program Director. His leadership embodies a belief in the transformative power of experiential learning, and he is committed to creating inclusive and inspiring spaces where students are encouraged to think critically, innovate boldly, and grow with confidence.
When he is not mentoring the next generation of changemakers, He enjoys playing the piano, nature, reflective writing, and community service.
This summer, he will learn about his new role and support the Shad Carleton program.
