The 2023-2024 Capstone project team of Owen Krueger, Orit Hashim, Peter Egbikuadje, and Michael Loh, supervised by Dr. Arash Ahmadi, developed an innovative Immersive Pacman Game. In this project Spiking Neural Networks (SNN) implementation on FPGA are used to control an intelligent agent (Pacman) in real-time. Unlike traditional AI methods relying on rule-based or deep learning approaches, this project leverages SNNs to emulate a bio-inspired approach for navigating the maze, avoiding ghosts, and collecting food!
This work highlights Carleton’s commitment to cutting-edge research in neuromorphic computing and custom AI hardware, preparing students for innovations in low-power, intelligent systems.
