An increasing body of research demonstrates that spending money on others increases our level of happiness. In an article just released in Current Directions in Psychological Science, these authors provide evidence of the universal relation between prosocial spending and psychological and physical benefits. They offer an intriguing scenario whereby even the “tax man” might reframe the concept of taxation to focus on the benefits that can be derived from taxes used to support social or environmental causes. See: Dunn, Elizabeth W., Lara B.
