Opal McInnis
Opal McInnis is a doctoral student in the Department of Neuroscience at Carleton University. She is interested in how social responses from others can shape our well-being and how genetic factors may impact these relationships. Her primary research interests include social support, coping, oxytocin and negative mental health outcomes. Her work has shown that unsupportive social interactions from others may influence an individual’s coping responses however, this may be dependent on the type of oxytocin gene someone possesses.
