Cross Cultural Competence Training
The workshop explores the dynamics of cross-cultural interactions in the workplace and is designed to enhance participants’ awareness and skills in providing support in a culturally diverse environment.
Learning Outcomes
Through facilitated activities and discussions, participants will:
- Learn about the role of the Department of Equity & Inclusive Communities
- Reflect on their own cultural values and the impact it has on one’s attitude and behaviours
- Learn about the Cultural Competence Continuum
- Explore the impact of assumptions and bias in cross-cultural communication
- Engage in a discussion about the common barriers and challenges to intercultural communication
- Identify skills and strategies to interact with and provide support in diverse cultural contexts
What to expect at the session
Session length: 3 hours
This workshop may include the following activities:
- Listening to a facilitator
- Discussion and interaction with colleagues
- Viewing a multimedia presentation
- Videos included in the presentation (close captioned)
