Cross Cultural Competence Training

The workshop explores the dynamics of cross-cultural interactions in the workplace and is designed to enhance participants’ awareness and skills in providing support in a culturally diverse environment.

Learning Outcomes

Through facilitated activities and discussions, participants will:

  • Learn about the role of the Department of Equity & Inclusive Communities
  • Reflect on their own cultural values and the impact it has on one’s attitude and behaviours
  • Learn about the Cultural Competence Continuum
  • Explore the impact of assumptions and bias in cross-cultural communication
  • Engage in a discussion about the common barriers and challenges to intercultural communication
  • Identify skills and strategies to interact with and provide support in diverse cultural contexts

What to expect at the session

Session length: 3 hours

This workshop may include the following activities:

  • Listening to a facilitator
  • Discussion and interaction with colleagues
  • Viewing a multimedia presentation
  • Videos included in the presentation (close captioned)
