LivingWorks Start

In as little as 90 minutes online, LivingWorks Start teaches trainees to recognize when someone is thinking about suicide and connect them to help and support. LivingWorks Start teaches valuable skills and requires no formal training or prior experience in suicide prevention. Safety resources and support are available throughout the program.

Like all of LivingWorks’ core programs, LivingWorks Start is evidence-based. Here’s what third-party evaluations of LivingWorks Start confirmed:

  • Improves trainee skills and knowledge
  • Improves trainee readiness and confidence
  • Safe and effective for trainees as young as 13 years old
  • Meets SAMHSA’s Tier III evidence-based training criteria
  • Based on best practices in online curriculum development

Please note that any members of the Carleton community who are concerned about a student can submit a Care Report through Wellness Services.

What to Expect at the Session

Session Length: approximately 90 minutes; completed online at your own pace. Training must be completed within 60 days of receiving the license.

This workshop may include the following activities:

  • Content warning: training includes topics related to suicide
  • Viewing and listening to videos (close captioned)
  • Clicking through web based content pages
  • To get the most out of the training, you will be given the option to participate with your microphone
  • Completing activities online, including typing on a device
