Student Privacy Awareness Training
This session will introduce the topic of student privacy in the university environment in general, and specific to Carleton University, to provide participants with information and awareness into the primary privacy legislation in operation on campus. Participants will learn about how to manage student privacy inside, between and outside of the classroom.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe what constitutes personal information
- Differentiate between the concepts of ‘Need to Know’ and Right to Know’
- Recognize when and how you can use/disclose personal information
- Identify and correct student privacy risks in their own environment
What to expect at the session
Session length: 2 hours
This workshop may include the following activities:
- Periods of sitting
- Listening to a facilitator
- Discussion and interaction with colleagues
- Viewing a multimedia presentation
- Submitting questions in writing for an anonymous question and answer activity
