Digital Technology and Innovations in the Changing World – ICD2O (Technovation)

ICD2O is offered by the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Engineering Secondary School in collaboration with Technovation 2024, the world’s largest global tech entrepreneurship competition for girls. Following the Technovation Ottawa schedule, enrolled students in the ICD20 course receive a 1.0 credit towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

The ICD20 course is an online course, delivered in English by a fully bilingual female teacher with over 10 years of classroom expertise. Students meet every Monday evening for an online synchronous session and every Wednesday evening in person at Carleton University for the Technovation workshops. One Saturday is set aside for a few hours at the end of May for a ‘’Pitch Celebration’. Throughout the course, the ICD20 teacher offers one-on-one support to students in both French and English.

During this course the girls develop cutting-edge digital technology and computer programming skills that will support them in contributing to and leading the global economic, scientific and societal innovations of tomorrow. The girls learn and apply coding concepts and skills to build hands-on projects, investigate artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and other emerging digital technologies that connect to a wide range of fields and careers.

Students are accepted to the full-credit course on a first come first serve basis.
