Technovation Ottawa employees are changing the future by helping youth build their digital literacy and entrepreneurship skills to help move from simply consuming technology to being innovative producers of technology. Program Assistant
As a Program Assistant for Technovation Ottawa, you will be responsible for delivering activities weekly at the Technovation Ottawa sessions and events. You will deliver workshops using business and technology curriculum for children between grade 3 to grade 12. Events and programs are hosted on the Carleton University campus.
Ideal Candidate
- Some experience working with children (Example: Previous camp or classroom experience)
- Prior experience in a mentoring/coaching role (Examples: Summer camp counselor, sports coach, lifeguard, arts/educational instructor)
- Passionate about sharing knowledge
- Ability to explain complex concepts in a simplified manor

Qualifications
- Carleton University student enrolled in engineering, business and/or technology related programs
- Computer literacy required (basic programming an asset)
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Required to undergo a Police Record Check for the Vulnerable Sector before the start of the position
Hours of work
Technovation Ottawa has 2 events and 12 weekly sessions. Program Assistants are expected to be at all 14 of these events (can be discussed with Program Director if you need to miss a day). Program Assistants are also expected to complete 1-2 hours of asynchronous work to help with administrative tasks related to the program.
The events:
- Saturday January 20, 9am-12pm (Staff work 8am-1pm)
- Saturday April 27, 9am-2pm (Staff work 8am-3pm)
The weekly sessions:
- Wednesdays, 6:30pm-8:30pm (Staff work 5:30pm-9pm)
- Starts Wednesday January 31
- Ends Wednesday April 24

$20/hour
