The second Jean Monnet Summer School on Transatlantic Trade Politics will take place at Carleton University in Ottawa on July 6-12, 2023. The summer school will be taught by professors from the universities participating in the Jean Monnet Network on Transatlantic Trade Politics, as well as by external experts.
The Jean Monnet Summer School on Transatlantic Trade Politics is a unique way to learn more about the politics of transatlantic trade, as part of an international group of students.

Day 1 – Introduction: European and North American trade politics – Thursday, July 6, 2023

- 13:30 – 14:45 North American trade policy and politics
- 15:15 – 16:00 Current challenges for the transatlantic relationship
Day 2 – Political economy of transatlantic relations – Friday, July 7, 2023
- 9:00 – 10:15: Trade agreements and trade conflicts
- 10:45 – 12:00: Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)
- 13:30 – 15:30: Discussion with trade policy practitioners
- 15:30 – 16:00: Debrief
Day 3 – Transatlantic relations in a global context: geostrategic perspectives – Monday, July 10, 2023
- 9:00 – 10:15: Transatlantic trade and investment in a time of ‘decoupling’
- 10:45 – 12:00: Energy trade and energy sanctions
- 13:30 – 14.45 & 15.15 – 16.00: Activity (TBD)
Day 4 – Politicization of transatlantic trade – Tuesday July 11, 2023
- 9:00 – 10:15: Interest groups and the contestation of trade agreements
- 10:45 – 12:00: Values/identities and the contestation of trade agreements

Day 5 – Rethinking the political economy of transatlantic relations – Wednesday July 12, 2023
