Student Bio
Neeraj Nainwal is a graduate student at the Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering at Queen’s University. His Ph.D. thesis involves conduct research on using drones to acquire, optimize, or innovate geophysical data acquisition and exploration under the supervision of Prof. Alexander Braun. His primary research interest is in Geophysical Inverse theory, petrophysical characterization, and numerical modeling.
In 2013, He pursued his Bachelor’s in Geo-science Engineering from the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, India. After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in 2017, he worked as a Team-Lead Geophysicist in Results Survey Pvt. Ltd. His work involved Planning, supervising, and executing geophysical work to investigate the subsurface anomalies using different geophysical instruments. Also, he has experience in Documentations, maintaining Quality checks, and client handling.
After working for a little over a year, he did his master’s at the Department of Earth sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. In his second year of postgraduate study, he did a thesis on the development of Numerical modeling of 2D Electrical Resistivity Data using in-house MATLAB codes to understand the groundwater dynamics in a spatial and temporal domain.
Outside academia, he possesses a love for mountaineering, bicycling, and yoga.
