Stephanie Vizi received a BA in Journalism with Combined Honours in African Studies in June 2014. After graduation, she moved to Lesotho, a small landlocked country in Southern Africa, to pursue an internship with Help Lesotho, a non-profit organization.
At Help Lesotho, Stephanie works alongside local staff to prevent HIV/AIDS, promote gender equity, encourage social justice and support vulnerable children, youth and grandmothers. The Institute of African Studies’ inter-disciplinary approach allowed Stephanie to focus her studies on her area of interest, Southern Africa, while also obtaining a well-round education in African cultures, languages, literature and politics.
During her undergrad, she took a work placement course and traveled to Southern Africa to enrich her studies. Stephanie would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in learning about Africa from dynamic professors in an empowering academic environment.
