Dr. Danielle Kinsey, Department of History, Carleton University
Danielle Kinsey is an assistant professor in the Department of History and Institute of Political Economy at Carleton University. She specializes in the history of the British empire, women and gender, and imperial trade networks. Her current book project is on the history of the diamond trade in the nineteenth century, focusing in particular on ideas of race in the construction of imperial authority, the meaning of diamonds in Britain, and mining labor diasporas in a global context.
