This March 6th, the Republic of Ghana celebrates 55 years of
independence. To mark the occasion, the Institute of African Studies
Students Association is convening a panel of experts to present on a
variety of contemporary Ghanaian issues and aspirations.
Our esteemed panelists are:
Joseph Awetori Yaro – “Changing Livelihood Profiles in Ghana since Independence”
Louise de la Gorgendiere – “Continuity and Change: Reflections from/on the Ghanaian Diaspora”
Letlotlo Gariba – “Cultural Hybridity: The Evolution of Ghanaian Nationalism”
Matt Morris – “Traditional Authorities in the Volta Region”
Kaitlyn Finner – “The Shea Butter Industry in Northern Ghana”
The discussion will be moderated by Amanda Coffie.
It will commence promptly at 6:00 p.m. in the Humanities Lounge, 303 Paterson
Hall.
