Her Excellency Mrs. Edda Mukabagwiza, the High Commissioner of Rwanda to Canada is a lawyer by training. She holds a bachelor degree in Law from the National University of Rwanda. Before being appointed as High Commissioner of Rwanda to Canada in 2007, she occupied different high level positions in the Government. She was Minister of Justice, from 2003 to 2006, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice from 2000 to 2003. Mrs Edda Mukabagwiza has also been the Executive Secretary of HAGURUKA, The Association defending and promoting women and children’s rights, from 1999 to 2000, and prior to that, she was working as a legal advisor and consultant to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Justice from 1996 to 1999.
Her Excellency Else Berit Eikeland has been the Norwegian Ambassador to Canada for almost three years now. She has a Master’s degree from the University of Bergen, Norway, in Political Science and Management. She has held the position of Director General of NORAD (which is the equivalent to the Canadian CIDA) and been responsible for Norwegian aid to civil society and business. Eikeland is a career diplomat who has previously served in the Philippines, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
