Solomon Aklilu received his PhD in Economics from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Addis Ababa University in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Dr. Aklilu’s research interests include Development and Economic Growth in Africa and the Latin Americas and African economic and political strides. Currently, Dr. Aklilu is an Economist and Statistician at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) here in Ottawa Canada. Dr. Aklilu has previously taught many courses in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics here at Carleton, at the University of Windsor and Acadian University in Canada and St. Lawrence University and State University of New York (SUNY- Canton) in the USA. He has also worked in the public sector at the Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) and in the private sector at Informetrica Limited (a small research company created in the 1970s by two American gentlemen and still striving here in Ottawa) as a Senior Economist. Dr. Aklilu has published in the Latinamericanist Journal and The Informetrica Internal Studies Journal
