Every year, the Food Science and Nutrition program holds an annual assessment retreat for faculty and contract instructors to review and evaluate student work gathered across courses and instructors.
Prof. Véronic Bezaire (Chemistry) is the driving force behind the program’s assessment activities, and has been involved in learning outcomes assessment since participating in the Learning Outcomes Pilot Project.
For Prof. Bezaire and her team, the year-end retreat is “an amazing opportunity to discuss students’ strengths and weaknesses as they progress through the program. Our discussions sometimes lead to simple course modifications to mitigate student weaknesses. The team prefers to do this as a group before tackling it individually.”
