Carleton University’s Richard Yu, professor in the School of Information Technology, will host a demonstration of connected/autonomous vehicles technology developed as part of Carleton student research projects. The demonstration will feature information sharing between vehicles, as well as an attempt and mitigation of a security attack.
Media are invited to attend the event.
In this demonstration, the vehicles will share key details – car location, speed and brake information – with each other. Yu and the students will also demonstrate a security attack, such as an impersonation of a police vehicle, as well as mitigation solutions.
This demonstration is part of Yu’s research into cutting-edge technologies to secure connected and autonomous vehicles. His research was granted funding of $974,000 over three years from the Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP) in October 2017.
