Dr. Ashraf Matrawy is a Professor at the School of Information Technology, Carleton University. His main research focus is network security with emphasis on 5G security and IoT information security and privacy. Dr. Matrawy conducts his research in collaboration with different government agencies and industrial partners. He has spent his sabbatical leaves working in industry and provided consulting services to government and industry. He is a senior member of the IEEE and serves on the editorial board of the IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials journal. He has served as a technical program committee member of IEEE CNS, IEEE ICC, IEEE Globecom, IEEE LCN, and IEEE/ACM CCGRID. He is also a Network co-Investigator of Smart Cybersecurity Network (SERENE-RISC). Dr. Matrawy has more than 10 years experience in undergraduate and graduate curriculum development for the Network Technology programs at Carleton University. He served as associate director for the School of Information Technology for three and half years and as coordinator for the undergraduate network technology program for six years.
