
Alia joined CABER in May of 2021, after completing her second year of Biomedical Mechanical Engineering at Carleton University. She received the NSERC Undegraduate Student Research Award (USRA) this past year.
She is currently assisting PhD candidate, Calene Treichel, researching micro-encapsulated phase change materials as thermal energy storage within common building materials. Their work aims to significantly reduce heating and cooling loads while improving occupant comfort within buildings in cold climates.
